August 18.

We ended up in Pender Harbour re-united with our buddy boaters, Don and Janice Brewster.

So nice to be together with our fellow adventurers, Don and Janice. Missing Mejan and Bert in this picture. They are still in the Broughtons.

It was quite likely that our friends Kim and Bruce Frith were sailing somewhere in the area, so we contacted them on the VHF radio while we were travelling to Pender Harbour. Turned out they were right behind us on their way to Pender Harbour. They invited us to join them for supper that night at the Painted Boat restaurant.

Dinner at the Painted Boat restaurant in Pender Harbour with our friends Bruce and Kim and their friends.

The next day we found out that Don’s daughter and family were, unexpectedly, arriving for a visit from Edmonton. Since we had been planning to have dinner together on our boat, we decided to invite the whole family on board.

A great way to end our journey to Alaska together.

On to Vanvouver.

Entering Vancouver, back in the big city. Experiencing a moment of sadness realizing our big adventure to Alaska is nearly over.

English Bay Beach. Many memories there from 45 years ago. Met Harry Belafonte on that beach way back then, when I lived here in Vancouver.

We always make time for a bite and a drink ‘op een terrasje’.

Parking our dinghy near the English Bay water taxi dock. Not a good idea, but we really wanted to go for our ‘All-you-can-eat-Sushi’ on Davie Street. Turned out our favorite restaurant was closed, but we found another good Sushi place nearby.

We noticed this 28′ wide catamaran with a Dutch flag, from Meppel. We went over and found out that these people had travelled around the world for 16 years, 60000 NM. They told us that after all that travelling the best place to be was on the coast of BC and the Southeast coast of Alaska. We agree.

All kinds of ways to travel across the water in False Creek: water taxis; paddle boards; water-bikes; dragon boats; Barbecue round boats for hire; kayaks; dinghies; sailboats; powerboats; monster yachts.; etc.

Time for a visit with our ( foster) son Will and his new wife Heidi Chinneck. The reason we came to Vancouver in the first place, because we had missed their wedding in May.

It was great to spend some time with Will and Heidi. They brought flowers for my birthday.
